Legal Aid Society Legal Clinic
LAW will participate in the LAS Legal Clinic that will be held at Belmont University, 2005 12th Avenue South, Nashville, 37204, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 8:30-10:30 am.
If you are interested in participating, sign up and information on a a virtual training scheduled on October 17th during lunch will be emailed to you.
The clinic focuses on providing legal advice for simple civil legal problems, some including: landlord/tenant, employment, family law and consumer matters. The first thirty minutes is allotted to walk-in patrons completing paperwork to provide contact information and a summary of their legal problem. Attorneys have the freedom to choose who they want to meet with and what kind of legal problem to provide advice. There are private meeting rooms available for usage and Legal Aid staff provides our legal materials for attorneys to use during their meetings. Patrons are aware that meeting with an attorney does not imply representation; however, attorneys have the option to take on someone’s case should they choose to do so. The only requirement of the attorneys during the clinic is to complete a case summary form for each consultation before the clinic ends. All attorneys that volunteer will be covered by Legal Aid’s malpractice insurance and will receive CLE credit.
