Built on Bold History, Driven by Purpose

In 1901, Marion Griffin was told that women couldn’t practice before the Tennessee Supreme Court. She didn’t accept that answer. Her groundbreaking determination paved the way for generations of women attorneys to follow.
Since our founding on February 24, 1981, the Lawyers’ Association for Women has carried forward her legacy — championing justice, advocating for reform, and creating pathways for women at every stage of their legal careers.
